Floods, whirlwinds leave four dead or injured in northern localities
Hanoi, Aug. 2 -- Floods and severe weather between July 31 and 10:00 am on August 2 left four people dead or injured and caused widespread damage across some northern localities. Flash floods killed three people in Gia Phu commune of Lang Son province. A landslide of nearly 100 cubic metres of soil and rock blocked Provincial Road 103 at Km29+150 in Na Cai village, Yen Son commune, disrupting traffic. The Vietnam Disaster and Dyke Management Authority under the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment reported that in Lao Cai province, heavy rain accompanied by thunderstorms and strong winds injured one person.
