Beijing, March 14 -- The election of deputies to the 16th National Assembly (NA) and the People's Councils at all levels for the 2026-2031 tenure takes place at a significant moment following the successful organisation of the 14th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV), with the aim of implementing the development goals set out at the congress for the years ahead.

These goals are incorporated into the country's five-year plans as well as long-term socio-economic development strategies, said Professor Mi Liang, Director of the Centre for Southeast Asian Studies at Beijing Foreign Studies University of China, during an interview to the Vietnam News Agency ahead of the upcoming election.
