Singapore, March 1 -- Road safety in Singapore has reached its most dangerous level in years, with traffic fatalities in 2025 hitting a 10-year high and deaths among the elderly more than doubling. According to annual road traffic statistics released on February 26 by the Singapore Traffic Police, traffic deaths hit a 10-year high of 149 in 2025 compared with 141 in 2016 and 142 in 2024. The number of injured people also increased from 9,342 in 2024 to 9,955 in 2025. Of great concern to the authorities was the number of elderly who died, with the figure more than doubling from 11 in 2024 to 27 in 2025. All were pedestrians.
