New Delhi, Sept. 16 -- Early-stage venture capital firm RTP Global has elevated Smita Goel to chief operating officer of its Asia operations, expanding her mandate to include fund operations, global compliance, portfolio support and fund structuring.

Goel joined RTP Global in 2022 and has worked across India, the Middle East and Southeast Asia. In her expanded role, she will oversee the firm's Asia operations while also supporting fund structuring, global compliance and finance-related portfolio support.

Before joining RTP Global, Goel spent more than two decades working across international taxation, fund structuring, cross-border transactions and regulatory compliance. She previously held roles in the tax and regulatory practices of EY and PwC and served as tax head at Allstate India. She is a chartered accountant and commerce graduate.

The appointment comes as RTP Global completes 15 years of investing in India in 2026. The firm has made more than 150 investments globally since 2000, with its portfolio including companies such as CRED, Rebel Foods, InVideo, FirstClub, Stable Money and Wiom in India, alongside global investments including Datadog, Delivery Hero and SumUp.

RTP Global currently operates a $1 billion fourth fund, which it launched in 2023. The vehicle is focussed on early-stage investments across North America, Europe, India and Southeast Asia, with $660 million allocated to its early-stage strategy and the remaining $340 million reserved for follow-on investments.

The firm said at the time that it planned to make around 20 investments in Indian startups, with a primary focus on seed and Series A rounds. Its typical investment size in India has been in the $1-10 million range, depending on the transaction.

The latest fund is more than 50% larger than RTP Global's previous vehicle, which closed in 2020. That third fund had a target corpus of $650 million, compared with $200 million for the firm's second fund. The third vehicle backed technology companies across North America, Europe, India and Southeast Asia.

RTP Global has offices in New York, London, Dubai, Paris and Bengaluru. The firm focuses on early-stage technology companies and has backed founders across sectors including fintech, consumer technology and enterprise software.
