New Delhi, May 18 -- Singapore-based early-stage venture capital firm M Venture Partners, which invests in startups across Southeast Asia and India, has roped in a partner from Mumbai-based financial services and investment firm WB Capital, VCCircle has learnt.
M Venture Partners, whose portfolio includes startups such as Aulerth, Cancer Clinics, Smit.fit, Sama, Gourmet Garden, BigSpring, MindFi, Tesseract and Sherpa, has appointed Pramo Selvaratnam as partner to lead its India operations and franchise expansion efforts.
"India remains a large, fast-growth market with exceptional technology innovation, and we see a tremendous opportunity to deepen MVP's presence and long-term commitment in the country," the firm said. "With Pramo leading this initiative, we are excited to partner with exceptional founders, expand our network, and continue building the MVP platform across our markets."
Selvaratnam brings more than two decades of experience across investment banking, capital raising, business strategy and growth execution.
Before joining M Venture Partners, he served as director at WB Capital. Earlier, he held senior leadership roles at Aditya Birla Renewables, Aditya Birla Capital and Aditya Birla Group. He also spent more than a decade at Goldman Sachs, where he led the power, renewables, energy and natural resources investment banking practice for India and worked on transactions worth more than $15 billion.
His experience also includes a stint as managing director of Singapore-headquartered Equis Funds Group's real estate and infrastructure platform in India.
Founded in 2019, M Venture Partners launched its maiden fund with a corpus of $30 million. In 2022, the firm raised an additional $25 million to back high-performing portfolio companies from its first fund.
The venture capital firm invests across pre-seed, seed and pre-Series A stages, primarily focusing on technology-enabled B2B and B2B2C startups. To date, it has backed around 39 startups across sectors.
