New Delhi, Aug. 4 -- Three former partners of law firm IC Legal have launched a full-service law firm, Aequitas Law Partners.
The founding team, Sambhav Ranka, Rowena De Sousa, and Anita Jain, has expertise across M&A, private equity, venture capital, investment funds, asset management, regulatory advisory, and general corporate practice.
The development follows the split of IC Legal and Universal Legal from their joint venture IC Universal Legal last month. Universal Legal was rebranded as Chugh Universal Legal while IC Legal continued under its existing name, led by Hemant Shah and partners, with a focus on litigation, real estate, media and entertainment, and estate planning, VCCircle reported earlier.
Ranka has nearly two decades of experience and worked on M&A and PE deals. De Sousa, the most experienced among the trio, has worked on cross-border transactions and corporate advisory. Jain specializes in fund formation and regulatory strategy, including GIFT City structures.
Prior to founding Aequitas, Jain worked with full-service law firms like Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas, and Trilegal. De Sousa previously worked at ARA LAW and IC Legal. Ranka was previously with Nishith Desai Associates and Morgan Walker before joining IC Legal.
Ranka is an alumnus of ILS Law College and holds a postgraduate degree from Queen Mary University of London. Jain graduated from Government Law College and is also a qualified Company Secretary from the Institute of Company Secretaries of India. De Sousa earned her law degree from VM Salgaocar College of Law, Goa.
