New Delhi, Aug. 19 -- Homegrown venture capital firm Chiratae Ventures, which is currently raising its fifth flagship fund, has elevated a senior member of its investment team to partner, as it looks to deepen its focus on consumer technology and continues backing startups across multiple stages of growth, VCCircle has learnt.

The firm has appointed Anoop N as investment partner.

Anoop had joined Chiratae Ventures in November 2021 and previously served as principal in the investments team.

He has played a significant role in the company's consumer technology portfolio, working with and backing startups across the sector. Chiratae said Anoop's promotion reflects his contributions to the investment team and the broader responsibilities he has assumed as the company has expanded.

Consumer technology has been a key investment area for Chiratae, which has been an early backer of startups such as Flipkart, Lenskart, Cult.fit, Curefoods, MyGlamm, HealthifyMe, Rentomojo, Miko and BeepKart, among others.

The company is currently raising its fifth flagship fund, targeting $350 million (Rs 3,350 crore) across multiple investment vehicles, including Chiratae Ventures India Fund V, Chiratae Ventures Master Fund V and Chiratae Ventures International Fund V. The combined hard cap for these vehicles is around $500 million.

It marked the second close of Fund V at $150 million (Rs 1,329 crore then) in September last year, drawing commitments from domestic and overseas limited partners (LPs), institutional investors, family offices and existing investors from its earlier funds.

Before joining Chiratae, Anoop was principal director at Accenture Ventures, where he worked on open innovation and India's startup ecosystem. He also held senior roles at Asianet News Network, including chief operating officer of its digital business and CEO of its digital entertainment division.

Earlier, he spent more than four years at Jupiter Capital as assistant vice president of strategic investments. His work included investments across online education, online retail and fintech, as well as inorganic expansion in regional broadcast media.

He also worked for more than five years at Accenture across consulting and engagement roles, working on growth strategy, business transformation, manufacturing strategy and operational improvement across sectors including pharmaceuticals, infrastructure and real estate.

Anoop began his career as a programmer analyst at Cognizant after completing a bachelor of engineering in computer science and engineering from the University of Madras. He later completed a postgraduate diploma in management (PGDM) in strategy and operations from the Indian Institute of Management, Indore.
