India, Aug. 29 -- The Chinese People's Liberation Army had started the War on 20 October and the next morning they used artillery and mortars to attack the Indian Army position at Sirijap-I. As a consequence, the Gorkha troops were severely injured. At this juncture, Chinese troops began to progressively approach the Indian stronghold. Major Thapa's isolated company was assaulted in huge numbers by Chinese forces. The Chinese soon came up with light tanks against which Indian troops had no weaponry, but Major Thapa's Gorkha men responded and repulsed three enemy attacks.
