India, Aug. 29 -- In 2024, the Belgian air force received its first F-35's which were based at Luke air force Base, USA, for pilot training. In October 2025, the first 4 Belgian F-35's touched down at Florennes, after their delivery flight from the US with a stopover at the Azores. The 2nd Wing was honoured to become the first unit to be equipped with the F-35 while their F-16's are taken out of service or handed over to other Belgian units still flying the Fighting Falcon. In the preparational process for the transition to the F-35, Florennes had meanwhile also received several flight sims.
