WRIGHT-PATTERSON AIR FORCE BASE, Ohio, Oct. 9 -- Wright-Patterson Air Force Base issued the following press release:
WRIGHT-PATTERSON AIR FORCE BASE, Oh. --
Beginning the week of 12 Oct 26, weather permitting, 88 CEG will begin transitioning select areas of the base from traditional lawn management to conservation-focused pollinator habitat. Several mowed and maintained lawn areas will be treated with herbicide to kill existing grass. This preparation will enable the installation to plant pollinator habitat during late winter and early next spring. The new habitat areas will support butterflies, moths and birds while not increasing Bird Aircraft Strike Hazard concerns.
