WASHINGTON, D.C.- Ahead of the U.S. House of Representatives consideration of the Fostering the Future Act - historic, bipartisan legislation to modernize the John H. Chafee Foster Care Program for Successful Transition to Adulthood ("Chafee") - a broad coalition of leaders, advocates and stakeholders have released statements supporting the legislation. Following hearings and direct consultation with foster youth with lived experience, the Ways and Means Committee advanced bipartisan reformsthoughtfully designed to improve outcomes for the nearly 16,000 foster youth who "age out" of foster care without permanent connections to family.
