WASHINGTON, July 16 -- The House Ways & Means Committee Chairman issued the following news release:

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Large hospital systems and insurance companies will be required to be more transparent about their prices and financing practices while seniors and patients living in rural and underserved communities will have more access to better health care under legislation approved by the Ways and Means Committee. Among the policies advanced by the Committee are reforms that will force health insurers and providers to be more open and honest about the cost of care before a patient undergoes treatment.
