U.S. Senators Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.), a member of the Senate Finance Committee, and Ron Wyden (D-Ore.), Ranking Member of the Senate Finance Committee, demanded answers from Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent and Internal Revenue Service (IRS) CEO Frank Bisignano on the "outrageously corrupt settlement agreement" that the Treasury Department and IRS recently entered into with President Trump. The lawmakers also wrote to the U.S. Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration (TIGTA), requesting that the IG immediately open an investigation into this untrammeled corruption.
