University of Wyoming researchers discovered that mice that exercised lowered their risk for developing Alzheimer's disease, a finding that could prove promising in helping humans lower their risk of the disease that causes progressive cognitive decline.

Alzheimer's disease is the most common cause of dementia and gradually robs people of their memory, thinking abilities and independence. While new medications that target amyloid plaques have shown some promise, their benefits are often modest, and they can cause serious side effects.
