WASHINGTON, Sept. 22 -- The U.S. Navy issued the following news release:
The Freedom-variant littoral combat ship USS St. Louis (LCS 19) arrived in Nassau, Bahamas, for a scheduled port visit on Sep. 21, providing an opportunity for U.S. Navy Sailors to engage with Bahamian leaders and maritime professionals while strengthening the longstanding relationship between the United States and The Bahamas.
U.S. Navy forces are deployed under U.S. Northern Command's (USNORTHCOM) maritime homeland defense authorities in support of maritime homeland defense. USNORTHCOM is working together with the Department of Homeland Security to provide additional military forces and capabilities to protect the territorial integrity of the U.S. southern border....
