ALEXANDRIA, Va., April 7 -- United States Patent no. 12,598,257, issued on April 7, was assigned to Zoom Communications Inc. (San Jose, Calif.).

"Using an on-premises telephony node during an outage" was invented by George Thomas (Pleasanton, Calif.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A client device determines that a telephony outage is occurring. The client device connects to an on-premises telephony node using an encrypted password at the client device. The client device accesses a set of telephony services via the on-premises telephony node."

The patent was filed on June 13, 2024, under Application No. 18/742,717.
