ALEXANDRIA, Va., March 31 -- United States Patent no. 12,590,652, issued on March 31, was assigned to Zeus Co. Inc. (Orangeburg, S.C.).

"Thin-walled heat shrink tubing" was invented by Robert L. Ballard (Lexington, S.C.) and Tyler Poole (Orangeburg, S.C.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A heat shrink tubing is provided exhibiting various desirable properties, which generally comprises at least one fluorinated polymeric resin. The tubing can exhibit desirable physical properties such as heat shrink capability, high expansion/recovery ratio, low longitudinal shrinkage, low temperature recovery, and an average wall thickness of less than about 0.003 inches."
