ALEXANDRIA, Va., March 3 -- United States Patent no. 12,568,329, issued on March 3, was assigned to Yamaha Corp. (Hamamatsu, Japan).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A speaker unit includes a diaphragm and a plate. The diaphragm is supported on a frame The plate includes an outer peripheral portion. The outer peripheral portion is supported on the frame. The plate defines a space surrounded by the outer peripheral portion between the plate and the diaphragm and having an opening at a center of the plate. A distance between an edge of the opening and the outer peripheral portion is in a range of 8 mm to 42 mm."
