ALEXANDRIA, Va., May 26 -- United States Patent no. 12,638,291, issued on May 26, was assigned to Wisconsin Alumni Research Foundation (Madison, Wis.).
"Navigation system using celestial radio emissions" was invented by Kael D. Hanson (Waunakee, Wis.).
According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A celestial guidance system uses radio imaging of celestial bodies including the galactic plane received by an interferometric antenna array to provide robust navigation during times of cloud cover or interrupted GPS service."
The patent was filed on Aug. 4, 2023, under Application No. 18/230,327.
