ALEXANDRIA, Va., Feb. 17 -- United States Patent no. 12,553,066, issued on Feb. 17, was assigned to Wisconsin Alumni Research Foundation (Madison, Wis.).
"Gene duplications for crabtree-warburg-like aerobic xylose fermentation" was invented by Chris Todd Hittinger (Madison, Wis.), Trey Sato (Madison, Wis.) and Sae-Byuk Lee (Madison, Wis.).
According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "An engineered yeast strain capable of efficient fermentation of xylose to ethanol, and methods of making and using the strain, are provided."
The patent was filed on June 17, 2024, under Application No. 18/745,084.
