ALEXANDRIA, Va., July 7 -- United States Patent no. 12,673,072, issued on July 7, was assigned to WILLIAM MARSH RICE UNIVERSITY (Houston).

"Encapsulated cells expressing IL-12 and uses thereof" was invented by Omid Veiseh (Houston), Amanda Nash (Houston) and Samira Aghlara-Fotovat (Houston).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "The present disclosure relates to implantable constructs (encapsulated cells) designed to deliver therapeutic reagents, such as IL-12 and/or IL-12 and methods of using the same to treat conditions, such as cancer."

The patent was filed on Dec. 16, 2022, under Application No. 18/067,204.
