"Hydrogel pad" was invented by Shelby Michael Reed (Phoenix, N.Y.), Carlos Suarez (Syracuse, N.Y.) and Thaddeus Wawro (Auburn, N.Y.).

The hydrogel pad includes a flexible support having one or more openings in which hydrogel is disposed.
