US Patent Issued to Volvo Car on June 2 for "Intelligent battery cell" (Swedish Inventor)

ALEXANDRIA, Va., June 2 -- United States Patent no. 12,646,951, issued on June 2, was assigned to Volvo Car Corp. (Gothenburg, Sweden).

"Intelligent battery cell" was invented by Markus Ekstrom (Gothenburg, Sweden).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A device that comprises active battery cell material, an internal circuit coupled to the active battery cell material, a circuit board; two alternating current (AC) power points; two isolated direct current (DC) power points, and a controller that can operate one or more switches on an H-bridge circuit to disconnect the device from a main battery in a bypass mode."

The patent was filed on Sept. 16, 2022, under Application No. 17/932,963.
