ALEXANDRIA, Va., May 12 -- United States Patent no. 12,624,462, issued on May 12, was assigned to VOLKSWAGEN AG (Germany).

"Process for preparing propylene and polypropylene from CO 2" was invented by Armin Aniol (Braunschweig, Germany) and Fabian Fischer (Hannover, Germany).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "Illustrative embodiment relates to an environmentally friendly process for producing propylene and its polymer propylene from the starting material carbon dioxide CO2."

The patent was filed on June 23, 2023, under Application No. 18/997,497.
