ALEXANDRIA, Va., Feb. 11 -- United States Patent no. 12,545,543, issued on Feb. 10, was assigned to Valmet Technologies Inc. (Espoo, Finland).

"Slitter-winder and a method for slitting and winding a fiber web" was invented by Jaakko Haapanen (Jarvenpaa, Finland) and Mikko Rama (Jarvenpaa, Finland).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A slitter-winder for fiber webs has an unwinding section (10), a slitting section (20) and a winding section (30) and is configured to unwind, slit and wind a thick fiber web having a basic weight of at least 200 g/m2 to customer rolls (33).
