ALEXANDRIA, Va., Oct. 6 -- United States Patent no. 12,754,332, issued on Oct. 6, was assigned to UT-BATTELLE LLC (Oak Ridge, Tenn.).

"Real-time change detection monitoring using isotopic ratio signatures" was invented by Richard Reed (Knoxville, Tenn.), Eva Uribe (Snoqualmie, Wash.), Louise G. Worrall (Maryville, Tenn.) and Thomas J. Harrison (Knoxville, Tenn.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A system and a method for the remote monitoring of an irradiated salt mass within a decay enclosure is provided. The system and the method determine a mass ratio of a first radioisotope relative to a second radioisotope, the second radioisotope having a significantly shorter half-life than the first radio...
