ALEXANDRIA, Va., Jan. 28 -- United States Patent no. 12,534,746, issued on Jan. 27, was assigned to University of Puerto Rico (San Juan, Puerto Rico).

"Artificial fusion of dehydratase enzymes to improve production of fatty acids" was invented by Carlos Ralph Rullan Lind (San Juan, Puerto Rico) and Abel Juan Baerga Ortiz (San Juan, Puerto Rico).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "The disclosure provides fused dimer constructs that enhance fatty acid production and methods for making the dimer constructs. The fused dimer comprises Fab A and/or FabZ enzymes."
