ALEXANDRIA, Va., Jan. 28 -- United States Patent no. 12,534,550, issued on Jan. 27, was assigned to UNIVERSITE DE PARIS (Paris) and CENTRE NATIONAL DE LA RECHERCHE SCIENTIFIQUE (Paris).
"Amphipols" was invented by Manuela Zoonens (Paris), Anais Marconnet (Paris) and Fabrice Giusti (Tavel, France).
According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "The invention relates to polymeric compounds of formula Iwhich allow the solubilization and/or stabilization of membrane proteins, it relates in particular to the complexes they form with membrane proteins and the method of solubilizing and/or stabilizing membrane proteins comprising the use of these compounds."
