ALEXANDRIA, Va., Feb. 24 -- United States Patent no. 12,563,271, issued on Feb. 24, was assigned to Universal Electronics Inc. (Scottsdale, Ariz.).

"HVAC-based volume control" was invented by Matthew Acosta (Escondido, Calif.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A system, apparatus and method for automatically controlling the volume of a home entertainment device by an HVAC component. An HVAC component determines when it, or another HVAC, is active or not, and causes a home entertainment device to adjust its volume accordingly."

The patent was filed on July 28, 2023, under Application No. 18/361,291.
