ALEXANDRIA, Va., March 3 -- United States Patent no. 12,565,917, issued on March 3, was assigned to TMD Friction Services GmbH (Leverkusen, Germany).

"Friction linings for aluminum brake disks" was invented by Dirk Welp (Essen, Germany).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "Friction linings which contain more than 5 wt. % aluminum in the form of Al metal (powder) or of an Al alloy are suitable to ensure sufficiently high friction coefficients at little wear when combined with aluminum-containing brake disks or rotors."

The patent was filed on June 27, 2019, under Application No. 17/618,437.
