ALEXANDRIA, Va., July 16 -- United States Patent no. 12,361,204, issued on July 15, was assigned to Tiny Fish Inc. (Cupertino, Calif.).

"Extracting relevant information from a document" was invented by Shuhao Zhang (Cupertino, Calif.), Wenjie Hu (Palo Alto, Calif.) and Mingyang Li (Bellevue, Wash.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A document associated with a query is preprocessed including by deconstructing the query into individual components and understanding a relationship between the individual components. A query response is received. An annotated version of the document is outputted."
