ALEXANDRIA, Va., Oct. 21 -- United States Patent no. 12,440,601, issued on Oct. 14, was assigned to The Trustees of the University of Pennsylvania (Philadelphia).

"Self-adhesive multi-fiber materials" was invented by Matthew Davidson (Philadelphia) and Jason Alan Burdick (Philadelphia).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "Provided is a multi-fiber system that undergoes new chemical bonds in response to mechanical manipulation and has self-adhesive properties based on specific chemical reactions."
