ALEXANDRIA, Va., Dec. 2 -- United States Patent no. 12,490,523, issued on Dec. 2, was assigned to THE BOEING COMPANY (Arlington, Va.).
"Solar cell array with changeable string length" was invented by Eric Rehder (Los Angeles).
According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A solar cell array comprised of one or more solar cells attached to a substrate. The substrate includes one or more electrical connections to the solar cells and one or more switches for changing a string length for one or more of the solar cells by altering a current flow path between the one or more of the solar cells and one or more of the electrical connections."
The patent was filed on Oct. 18, 2017, under Application No. 15/787,291.
