ALEXANDRIA, Va., March 17 -- United States Patent no. 12,578,271, issued on March 17, was assigned to Temple University -Of The Commonwealth System of Higher Education (Philadelphia).

"Gram-stain differentiation with nonlinear light scattering" was invented by Hai-Lung Dai (Wynnewood, Pa.), Mohammad Sharifian (Charlottesville, Va.) and Michael Wilhelm (Audubon, N.J.).
