ALEXANDRIA, Va., March 17 -- United States Patent no. 12,580,114, issued on March 17, was assigned to TDK Corp. (Tokyo).

"Magnetostrictive film and electronic device" was invented by Mutsuko Nakano (Tokyo), Yasuhisa Okano (Tokyo), Takao Noguchi (Tokyo), Wakako Okawa (Tokyo) and Yoshitomo Tanaka (Tokyo).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A magnetostrictive film includes rich regions having a mesh pattern in a cross section perpendicular to a film thickness direction of the magnetostrictive film. The rich regions are richer in a specific element contributing to ferromagnetism than surroundings of the rich regions."

The patent was filed on Oct. 31, 2023, under Application No. 18/498,337.
