US Patent Issued to Syngenta Crop Protection on July 21 for "Scaevola plant named 'SVAZ0010'" (California Inventor)

ALEXANDRIA, Va., July 21 -- United States Patent no. PP37,538, issued on July 21, was assigned to Syngenta Crop Protection AG (Basel, Switzerland).

"Scaevola plant named 'SVAZ0010'" was invented by Wendy R. Bergman (Gilroy, Calif.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A new Scaevola plant named 'SVAZ0010' particularly distinguished by its dark violet-blue flowers with white eyes, continuous and abundant flowering response, dark green foliage, a vigorous densely spreading growth habit with excellent branching and heat tolerance."

The patent was filed on Sept. 29, 2025, under Application No. 19/342,891.
