ALEXANDRIA, Va., March 31 -- United States Patent no. 12,589,234, issued on March 31, was assigned to Supira Medical Inc. (Los Gatos, Calif.).

"Intravascular blood pumps" was invented by Daniel Varghai (Campbell, Calif.), Ari Ryan (Sunnyvale, Calif.), Daniel Hildebrand (Santa Cruz, Calif.) and Mostafa Ghoreyshi (Campbell, Calif.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "Catheter blood pumps that include collapsible blood conduits and one or more collapsible impellers. The catheter blood pumps include an outflow and an expandable flow diverter disposed in an outflow region. The expandable flow diverters can be completely proximal to a proximal end of the collapsible blood conduit."
