ALEXANDRIA, Va., Feb. 3 -- United States Patent no. 12,542,225, issued on Feb. 3, was assigned to Supernode LTD (Dublin).

"Superconducting cable system" was invented by Stephen Doyle (Dublin), Deon Volschenk (Dublin), Marcos Acin (Dublin) and Eoin Hodge (Dublin).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "The present invention provides a superconducting cable system designed to facilitate long distance superconducting, the cable system including at least one inner cryostat containing a supply of cryogenic fluid and at least one superconductor extending longitudinally of the inner cryostat and in thermal communication with the cryogenic fluid, the inner cryostat comprising a liquid crystal polymer."
