ALEXANDRIA, Va., Feb. 17 -- United States Patent no. 12,554,085, issued on Feb. 17, was assigned to SUMITOMO ELECTRIC INDUSTRIES LTD. (Osaka, Japan).
"Optical fiber ribbon" was invented by Fumikazu Yoshizawa (Osaka, Japan).
According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "An optical fiber ribbon includes a plurality of optical fibers, and a connecting member configured to intermittently connect the plurality of optical fibers adjacent to each other. The connecting member is colorless and transparent to visible light, and is opaque to light in a specific wavelength band other than a visible light region."
The patent was filed on Aug. 14, 2023, under Application No. 18/449,227.
