ALEXANDRIA, Va., Feb. 11 -- United States Patent no. 12,549,793, issued on Feb. 10, was assigned to streaMonkey GmbH (Leipzig, Germany).
"Server-side adaptive media streaming" was invented by Fabian Dietz (Bayreuth, Germany).
According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A part of media is transmitted from a streaming server to a client and a transfer time is determined for the part of media. The transfer time is compared with a playback duration of the part of media. If the difference between the playback duration and the transfer time exceeds a preconfigured value, the bitrate of the media is adjusted."
The patent was filed on Oct. 1, 2019, under Application No. 17/765,567.
