ALEXANDRIA, Va., Feb. 11 -- United States Patent no. 12,545,916, issued on Feb. 10, was assigned to Stiching Radboud universitair medisch centrum (Nijmegen, Netherlands).

"Allele-specific silencing therapy for DFNA9 using antisense oligonucleotides" was invented by Erwin van Wyk (Nijmegen, Netherlands) and Erik de Vrieze (Nijmegen, Netherlands).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "The invention relates to the fields of medicine and immunology. In particular, it relates to novel antisense oligonucleotides that may be used in the treatment, prevention and/or delay of an COCH associated condition."

The patent was filed on Oct. 29, 2020, under Application No. 17/772,549.
