ALEXANDRIA, Va., Feb. 3 -- United States Patent no. 12,541,369, issued on Feb. 3, was assigned to Simplex Micro Inc. (Austin, Texas).
"Executing phantom loops in a microprocessor" was invented by Thang Minh Tran (Tustin, Calif.).
According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A processor includes a loop detection unit to detect a phantom-loop based on the resources reserved for execution of the phantom loop. The processor executes the phantom loop by reading source operand data on a first iteration of the loop and writing back data on the last iteration of the loop while allowing instructions after the loop to be concurrently executed."
