ALEXANDRIA, Va., Feb. 17 -- United States Patent no. 12,553,905, issued on Feb. 17, was assigned to Siemens Healthcare Diagnostics Inc. (Tarrytown, N.Y.).

"Devices and methods for plasma separation and metering" was invented by Aaron Kauffmann (Elkhart, Ind.), Jon Stradinger (Kalamazoo, Mich.) and David Ledden (Elkhart, Ind.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "Devices, assemblies, and kits are disclosed for separating and/or metering a plasma sample from a patient's liquid test sample. Also disclosed are methods of producing and using same."
