US Patent Issued to Sharp on June 23 for "RRC idle mode transition for non-terrestrial network cell" (Washington Inventors)

ALEXANDRIA, Va., July 15 -- United States Patent no. 12,666,493, issued on June 23, was assigned to Sharp K.K. (Osaka, Japan).

"RRC idle mode transition for non-terrestrial network cell" was invented by Edward Masami Sugiyama (Vancouver, Wash.) and Atsushi Ishii (Vancouver, Wash.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A wireless terminal is described. The wireless terminal includes circuitry configured to derive a release connection time interval based on a start time of non-terrestrial network (NTN) discontinuous coverage."

The patent was filed on Sept. 27, 2023, under Application No. 18/476,135.
