ALEXANDRIA, Va., June 12 -- United States Patent no. 12,301,412, issued on May 13, was assigned to Senseware Inc. (Vienna, Va.).

"Method and apparatus for monitoring a configuration status of a remote sensor device" was invented by Julien G. Stamatakis (Centreville, Va.) and Thomas Hoffmann (Fairfax, Va.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A system, method and apparatus for configuring a node in a sensor network. A sensor service can enable sensor applications to customize the collection and processing of sensor data from a monitoring location. In one embodiment, sensor applications can customize the operation of nodes in the sensor network via a sensor data control system."
