ALEXANDRIA, Va., Feb. 24 -- United States Patent no. 12,560,059, issued on Feb. 24, was assigned to Schlumberger Technology Corp. (Sugar Land, Texas).
"Gas lift latch" was invented by Chao Wang (Rosharon, Texas), Shao Chong Oh (Singapore), Jason Kamphaus (Rosharon, Texas) and Ganesh Balasubramanian (Houston).
According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "Latch designs for downhole components are provided. Some latch designs automatically lock in place in a mandrel pocket, for example automatically lock on or relative to both the no-go up and no-go down shoulders of the mandrel, when set. The latch designs reduce the range of movement of the latch within the mandrel pocket."
