ALEXANDRIA, Va., April 15 -- United States Patent no. 12,600,901, issued on April 14, was assigned to Schlumberger Technology Corp. (Sugar Land, Texas).
"Low viscosity polymer-based retarded acid" was invented by Julia Fernandez Del Valle (Houston), Christopher Daeffler (Sugar Land, Texas) and Mohan Panga (Sugar Land, Texas).
According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "Treatment of hydrocarbon formations using acid blends that contain water soluble polymers having chemical affinity for acid-susceptible rock species in the hydrocarbon formation is described herein. The polymers retard the activity of acid on acid-susceptible species of rock formations."
