ALEXANDRIA, Va., March 17 -- United States Patent no. 12,577,708, issued on March 17, was assigned to Safety Components International Inc. (Greensboro, N.C.).

"Outdoor fabric having wool-like properties" was invented by John Pierce (Greensboro, N.C.) and Lon Beasley (Greensboro, N.C.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A weather-resistant fabric is disclosed made from highly texturized multifilament synthetic polymer yarns. The yarns have a relatively large size or denier and are woven in a manner that produces a fabric with wool-like characteristics. The weather-resistant fabric is particularly well suited as an upholstery fabric for outdoor furniture."
