ALEXANDRIA, Va., Oct. 21 -- United States Patent no. 12,441,665, issued on Oct. 14, was assigned to RTX Corp. (Farmington, Conn.).
"Composite component with environmental protection" was invented by Olivier H. Sudre (Glastonbury, Conn.).
According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "An article includes a ceramic matrix composite article including ceramic-based reinforcements disposed in a ceramic-based matrix and a barrier layer present at least in part within bounds of the ceramic-based matrix of the ceramic matrix composite article. A method of applying a barrier layer to an article is also disclosed."
