According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A turbine engine rotor has: a central shaft; a disk stack having a plurality of disks encircling the shaft and having a hub mounted to the shaft; a nut threaded to the shaft; and a spacer between the hub and the nut, the nut holding the stack in compression via the spacer. The hub has a compartment at least partially containing the spacer with an outer wall inner diameter surface facing an outer diameter surface of the spacer."
